1. Why does the media claim that gas prices are at a "record high" without adjusting for inflation? Is this misleading? 2. The government takes more in taxes from gasoline sales than the oil companies take in profits from the same sales. Which, if either, is "excessive?" Gas companies are spending money to get the gas to market; do they deserve to make a profit? Who should decide how much profit? Who should decide how high the taxes on gasoline sales should be? 3. Do you think people tend to focus more on fluctuations in gasoline prices than they do on prices of other products? If so, why do you think they do? |
