Current Events

• Izzit.org offers exciting classroom tools, from the daily current events service to classroom videos by television producers who create and distribute programs that spark curiosity and lively classroom discussions.
• Education World® posts various links to national standards in social studies, U.S. history, and civics. The site offers various activities that integrate current events into the study of these subjects.

Freedom of Speech

• The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) provides free help to college students who are facing violations of their free speech, due process, or other basic rights. FIRE also provides a database of colleges, noting their policies toward free speech on campus, for students trying to choose a college. Its annual essay contest for high school seniors entering college the next fall awards scholarships up to $10,000 to the winners.

Economics

• The Foundation for Economic Education has offered summer seminars for high school and college students every summer during the past 50 years. These week-long, life-changing summer seminars educate and inspire students to take the knowledge gained to defend the principles of liberty.
• The Foundation for Teaching Economics offers lesson plans, seminars, and classroom support for teachers. Their popular "Hot Topics" emails offer lesson plans that focus on the economics imbedded in current events.

• Knowledge Delivery Systems is an award-winning professional development provider to states, districts, schools, individual teachers, and educational organizations across the country. The KDS Classroom is an e-learning platform with on-demand online content, including streaming video and synchronized PowerPoint slideshows.
• EconomicsAmerica® offers a list and description of each national voluntary standard in economics. Online lessons for each standard and all concepts are offered.
• Common Sense Economics web site includes instructor resources, student resources, including links to some economics activities and comics.
• High School Economics Topics provides definitions and articles.
• The Library of Economics and Liberty offers resources for students, teachers, researchers, and aficionados of economic thought.
• National Council on Economic Education: EconomicsAmerica® includes economics lessons that relate directly to state standards.
• Foundation for Economic Education's web site has an online library, a searchable index of past articles from its monthly journal, and information on seminars for students and teachers.
• Thinkfinity provides online lessons for all social studies and economics standards and concepts.
• Ten Key Ideas are ten fundamental ideas to help you explore and understand the world around us using the economic way of thinking.
• Shocking Economics demonstrates the size and power of the American economy.
• Rappin' the Ten Principles of Economics teaches the basics of economics and provides an idea for a project for economics classes. The site also offers advice to students about writing well.

Law

• National Paralegal College has posted the syllabus, coursework, recordings of lectures, etc. for a course called "Constitutional Law & Criminal Procedure."

• The Center for Civic Education posts the national standards for civics and government, as well as programs for teachers and students, such as "We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution."
• Smithsonian Education offers various resources linked to U.S. history, culture and other subjects.
• Education World® posts various links to national standards in social studies, U.S. history, and civics. The site offers various activities that integrate current events into the study of these subjects.
• Federal Resources for Educational Excellence provides links to teaching and learning resources in U.S. history and government, created by various federal government agencies. All resources are electronic or available to teachers at no cost.
• American Heritage Education Foundation provides its "America's Heritage: An Adventure in Liberty" curriculum free via download or CD.

• Exploring Constitutional Law explores some of the great issues and controversies surrounding the U.S. Constitution.

• The Singing Revolution is a documentary about Estonia's struggle for freedom from Soviet domination and oppression.
